Ashley Ivey is a designer and maker living in Tallahassee, Florida. She received a BFA in Design from Florida State University in 2005. My work stems from a deep rooted curiosity about the way people perceive and interact with the world around them. I am fascinated with the tactics people use to cope with fear, insecurity, love, discomfort, and joy. This current series of collaged paper works borrows form from traditional patchwork quilting. Like the stories told by the fabrics selected and repurposed for family quilts in the past, these collections of envelopes, with their distinctive yet surprisingly varied patterned interiors, offer hints about a life lived.
